First aid at Work (FAW)

Having First Aid trained Personnel at the workplace is a requirement of Health and Safety Law. First Aiders knowledge and skill can prevent situations from developing and resulting in further medical complications.

ABC Paramedic Services and First Aid Training can offer you the HSE approved and accredited First Aid at Work training course.

This course, tailored to suit the audience, includes both theoretical knowledge and practical sessions, delivered in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The course is designed to have everyone participating and enjoying themselves, but most importantly, to provide students with the confidence to cope with real life medical emergency situations.

Overview

The First Aid at Work Training Course is run over 3 days and provides the necessary practical skills to become a confident First Aider at work.

Syllabus

The Role of the First Aider
Acting safely, promptly, and effectively with emergencies at work (First Aid Priorities) Using first aid equipment, including the contents of a first aid box
Managing Incidents
Basic Life Support (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
Examination of a Casualty

Recognising and responding appropriately to:

  • An unconscious casualty
  • A wounded and bleeding casualty
  • Injuries to bones, muscles, or joints
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Common Illnesses
  • Heart Attacks
  • Eye Injuries
  • Gas and fumes poisoning

Qualification 

A 3-year Certificate of Competence (HSE Approved) will be awarded on successful completion of the course.
